Bostadsmarknaden är het, tyvärr är det många som står utanför den privata bostadsmarknaden. På sistone har det debatterats kring villaboende och hur väl man har råd med sitt boende. För att räkna ut det används ett så kallat boindex där man helt enkelt multiplicerar bruttolönen med 0,15 och så jämförs denna summa med den verkliga boendekostnaden. Blir boendekostnaden höge = inte bra och vice versa. Som med alla beräkningsformler finns det en viss stelhet. Denna formel baseras på två svenssoninkomster. Skulle man applicera denna beräkning på exempelvis studerande skulle hyreskostnaden få uppgå till 10000*0,15 = 1500kr. Anledningen till uppräkningen av studiemedlet är att formeln baseras på bruttoinkomst. Då är frågan hur stor andel av Sveriges studenter klarar av detta boindexet? Om vi tar ett annat exempel, låt säga alla ensamstående mödrar som kanske bor i en trea med en hyra på 5000:-, då skulle de alltså behöva tjäna 5000/0,15=33 300 innan skatt. Det kanske är tur för denna grupp att hyresvärdar inte använder sig av Svenskt Boindex.
